With the Take A Friend Fishing initiative continuing to grow – there’s more opportunity than ever to go fishing and create those long-lasting friendships and memories.
And it’s back…
The next Take A Friend Fishing campaign runs from 18 April to 4 May 2025 (inclusive).
Never heard of Take A Friend Fishing? It’s a UK wide initiative run by the Angling Trades Association and officially supported by Angling Cymru – allowing existing fishing licence holders can register for a FREE one-day fishing licence to take someone they know fishing!
You may have seen its summer and Christmas campaigns and now, due to its growing popularity, a spring campaign has been added for 2025.
The free fishing licence will be sent with a confirmation email, so please remember to have the angler’s fishing licence and both people’s email addresses handy when you register to Take a Friend Fishing.
With the pressures of modern life, physical health and mental wellbeing are more important than ever. The experience of a fishing trip together with a work colleague, family member, partner or just a mate, offers the ideal opportunity to unwind and recharge, whilst being active at the same time.
Please note: A day ticket from the fishery or angling club will also be required. You can find places to go fishing in Wales here.

In addition: Whilst we appreciate that recreational sea angling does not need a licence, maybe an event you are planning could be offered for free or discounted, reduced club membership or anything else you may think of?
