An update regarding the Angling Cymru DragonMania competition for shore anglers. After discussions with the three Angling Cymru Sea Anglers (ACSA) Regions, it has been decided that the Angling Cymru DragonMania Welsh Shore Angling Championships will not take place in 2026. Angling Cymru can now unveil the full match schedule for the 2026 edition of DragonMania for coarse anglers. The competition will follow the same format as last year, with 20 qualifying matches at five different venues across Wales between April and September. The winners of each will qualify for the 20-angler final – which this year returns to White Springs Fishery near Pontarddulais, Swansea, on Sunday 4 th  October. A huge congratulations to Craig Wilson who has now had his Spurdog, weighing 9.07kg (19.99lbs), ratified as new Welsh Record for Spurdog. Craig, from Cardiff, caught it on 31st December 2025 off Stout Point aboard Sea Leopard with skipper Darren Ryan. The previous record holder was Paul Whittle from Holyhead, who held the record since 2008 with a fish of 8.997kg. Craig’s fish was just 0.083kh heavier but enough to net the record! Well done, Craig.

The tireless dedication of a group of Pembrokeshire based volunteers has helped introduce 224 youngsters to angling in 2025. The Pembrokeshire Federation of Angling Coaches (PFAC) is a group of 17 volunteer coaches who, this year alone, have helped facilitate 30 coaching sessions for young people. The fifth Blood Bikes Wales Open Beach Fishing Competition, organised by members from Pembroke & District Angling Club and Osprey Sea Angling Club, was held on 9th November 2025 on Amroth beach in South Pembrokeshire.
