Tomos Hughes crowned North Wales DragonMania Shore champion

35 fished the Shore DragonMania North Wales Final at Abererch last Saturday evening (18th July 2026).

With the weather set fair, hopes were high. Zone A fished much better than Zone B with the top three coming from Zone A.

In first place and North Wales DragonMania champion was Tomos Hughes with a bag of seven bream, two red mullet, a huss and a goby for 243cm.

Ben Price was second with a mixed bag of fish consisting of bream, wrasse, blennies and a dragonette for 169cm.

Third was Portuguese angler Antonio Jesus, who now lives locally to Abererch, with seven bream, a wrasse and a goby for 162cm.

Zone A winner was Wayne Phillips (Swansea) with 151cm, with Danny Parker of Colwyn Bay Victoria SAC winning Zone B with 130cm on countback with more fish.

The Junior winner, with an impressive bag of six fish from B Zone for 75cm, was Jamie Thomas. Junior runner-up with three fish for 37cm was Max Worsey.

Theresa Rimmer (15cm) took the Ladies’ prize while the longest fish, a 56cm huss, was caught by Tomos Hughes. No flat fish caught, therefore second biggest fish with a bream of 31cm went to Scott Davies.

Fish caught were black bream, ballan wrasse, corkwing wrasse, gobies, blennies, red mullet, huss, pouting, dragonette and a pollock.

Both juniors who travelled up from South Wales, Jamie Thomas and Max Worsey, were also congratulated for their recent silver medal success for Wales in the Home International.

The prizes were handed out by north region committee member Darren Jones. Congratulations to all!
