This week (17-21 November) we are supporting Safeguarding Adults Week, organised by the Ann Craft Trust.
Angling Cymru is proud to support this important campaign to raise awareness among clubs, fisheries and individual anglers.
Safeguarding Adults Week 2025 is all about prevention – acting now to stop abuse before it takes place.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and the weeks provides an opportunity for the angling community to reflect on how we can all help create safe, welcoming environments for everyone who takes part in our sport.
While safeguarding often focuses on responding to concerns of abuse or neglect, Safeguarding Adults Week 2025 aims to shift the conversation towards prevention. It’s about recognising potential risks early, building trust within our communities, and ensuring that people feel empowered to speak up when something doesn’t seem right.
It’s important to learn the right lessons when things go wrong. But it is much better to prevent abuse from occurring in the first place than it is to respond to instances of harm, neglect, and isolation.
That’s why this week, we’re encouraging our member clubs and organisations to take a closer look at their approach to prevention within their club, in order to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
Join the conversation by sharing your own ideas and examples of good safeguarding practice. Use #SafeguardingAdultsWeek and tag Angling Cymru to show your support.
