Angling Cymru’s Ladies Carp Team were bursting with pride after returning home having recently represented their country at this year’s World Championships in Latvia.
The six-strong team of Natalie Chapman, Leah Bennett, Lowri Wilks, Natalie Hall, Laura Garrett and Jackie Potts overcame a gruelling start in hot conditions, battling on through in what was a tough competition on Balote Lake.
After a marathon 72 hours of fishing, the team finished in eighth spot.
Top performers for Wales were Natalie Hall and Natalie Chapman, who finished fifth in B section.
The host Latvian team took the overall win ahead of Romania and Lithuania.
“Feeling incredibly grateful and honoured to represent Wales in the beautiful setting of Latvia,” said Laura.
“Being capped for fishing for my country is a dream come true!”
Leah said: “I have never experienced a feeling quite like this one!
“To be capped for representing your country for a sport you feel so passionate about is next level. Surrounded by a team who feel the same ignites the fire in your belly!”
Work now begins for the 2025 Worlds in Italy, with Team Trials set to take place at the end of September.
